Welcome Back - 23/24
We hope that your summer was filled with fun, family and lots of rest. While it can be hard to say goodbye to the summer, we are very excited to get back into the swing of things at school! This year's PTO is back in action. The PTO Executive Board is made up of Stacey Smith (President), Jessica Savage (Vice President), Jenna Shiver (Treasurer), MaryAnn Migaldi (Secretary) and Pamela Jones (Communication Coordinator). There is also an amazing list of committee chairs and members that have committed to serve this year (see attached). We are very much looking forward to the 23-24 school year and wanted to bring a few things to your attention:
Kickstart/Open House: We will be set up at a table outside of the K wing towards the front of school. We will be there to help greet families, let people know how they can get involved with the PTO and hand out popsicles to our students. We plan to be there both 8/16 for 1st-4th and 8/17 for K. (Attached is an information sheet we plan to share at our popsicle table.)
Distributions: We will be at school next week to hand out distributions before the official start of school– these are funds from the PTO for you to use for supplies or other things you need to start the year.
Teacher Representative slots on PTO Event Committees: We are still in need of staff members to be the representatives for the following committees: Teacher Appreciation/School Spirit, Hawk Walk, Hiawatha Harvest, Mileage Club, Hiawatha Happening, Fundraising and Multicultural Night. Your input and participation are key in helping to make these events a success! If you are interested in sitting on a committee, please reach out to me as soon as possible. We would love to have you!
PTO Meeting Schedule: PTO General meetings will still be held at 7pm on the second Thursday of each month at school, with a virtual option. It is always helpful to have teacher representation at these meetings, so please, mark your calendars. (Please note, we are working on a website where we can post meeting minutes for all to view.)
Information Sharing: Throughout the year, we will be sending you information about events and opportunities that we would like you to share with families. Please keep an eye out for these, we will draft the language for you to copy and paste to make it as simple as possible! Because the PTO does not have the ability to communicate directly with Hiawatha families, we will be relying on you to help us with sharing information. We truly appreciate your partnership to help make these school wide events a success! We will be sharing a welcome message next week that would appreciate you passing on when you reach out to the guardians of your students.

Mileage Club: 4/8-5/24 (Family Nights TBD)
Multicultural Night: 4/12
Teacher Appreciation Week: 5/6-5/10
Hiawatha Happening: 5/10 OR 5/17
Field Day: 5/31
